i made these quite awhile ago. one of the first things i made for our little baby on the way. but i didn't really know what little people needed. or what new moms needed. and for some reason i thought little cloths and burp cloths were on the list. i hope i was right. because i like them.

they were super simple to make. some of my favorite fabrics on the front.

some terry cloth on the back. and a bit of topstitching to finish them off.

today i'm one month away from my due date. i am hoping she comes before the new year. here is what is left on the things i want to sew for the little one:

• new cover for her moses basket
• some garland
• a big stuffed fish
• some little stuffed owls
• some bibs
• some little bags for while on the go
• finish her little quilt
• finish some swaddle blankets

please let me know if i am missing anything.

this stuff was on the corner. of the kitchen table the other day. just a random pile of stuff. arranged just like that. the pile represent what life is like these days. the to-do list of things that still need to be bought for the hospital bag. and for the preparation of the little one on the way. my black daily agenda to keep me and my work meetings organized. because it is getting tougher to remember where i am supposed to be these days. an apple that needs to be eaten. they are perfect this time of year. a speeding ticket that needs to be paid. (not mine. phew.) a photo that i sketched for my painting class. that needs to be painted.

here is some more randomness for you:

• i started making some of these bibs tonight.
• i washed some fabric to make some of these great bags tomorrow.
• i am planning on making these awesome looking scones tomorrow, too.
• i need some help getting a copy of this magazine. to make this quilt. and this one, too. (if you can get a copy to me up here in canada i will love you forever. i can pay you in japanese fabric. leftover halloween treats. or cash.)
• i need to make some of these fish. from this pattern.
• i can't stop listening to this duet.
• and i want this office. which would doulbe as my creative space.

 

i am almost 35 weeks along.
i have a generous uterus. that's what the doctors say.
not much time is left. that's what everybody else is saying.
the hospital bag is packed. well mostly.
i need to buy her a couple of little hats.
and a warm blanket of some sort.
and i need to buy a baby sling or carrier.
and maybe a stroller.
my energy levels are still quite good.
except i have a cold this week. and am a bit tired.
prenatal classes have started.
i meet our doula next week.
a couple of names have been chosen.
she moves a lot. which is good.
i hope she is a spunky little thing.
i'm trying to wrap up my work.
to have a bit of down time before she arrives.
the sewing list is still long.
and things may not get checked off.
and that is okay.
we have no idea how she is going to affect our lives.
which is one of the strangest feelings i have ever had.
she is coming soon.
i am excited. and anxious. and excited.
and so is h-kun.
we hope she comes before 2011.
fingers crossed.

life has been super busy lately. but i have found some snippets of time last week. here and there. to sew a little quilt.

one of my best friends had a baby girl a few weeks ago. and i am hoping her little one and my *soon to be here* little one will be BFF too. i thought i would try to help out their friendship by making them matching quilts. or similar quilts.

i cut squares and triangles for my baby's quilt. and wanted something with the same fabrics for my friend's litle one. i started out with a very vague idea. and then the design unfolded while sewing. just like so many of my quilts. and i am super happy with how it turned out. and so was my friend. (hello marci!)

i used some of my most favorite favorite favorite fabrics. that liberty fabric from japan. with the little acorns and leaves. the little grey and black flowers. frome one of my favorite places in japan. nara. and then those grey stripes.
